GameMill's Snoopy Game Has Been Hit With A Copyright Lawsuit

Pay peanuts. We don't remember the Snoopy storyline where Charlie Brown and co. end up in a legal copyright battle, but that's exactly what's happening at the moment. Lee Mendelson Film Productions (the owner of "certain intellectual property" related to the Peanuts IP) has issued a legal complaint against publisher GameMill, accusing the latter of copyright infringement in Snoopy & the Great Mystery Club's score.Okay, that's a lot to digest, and there's every chance you've never heard of Snoopy & the Great Mystery Club, so let's break it down. GameMill published the puzzle adventure game on the Switch eShop last year to relatively little fanfare. Seven months after release, it seems the Peanuts owner has noticed some familiar tunes in the game's score, and what do you know, those tunes were not licensed.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Opinion: Yoshi And The Mysterious Book Completely Wastes Its Best Mechanic

This could have been an all-timer.I had a pretty decent time with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. It’s a charming experience filled with wonder and imagination, but thanks to the repetitive, overly-simplified structure, that imagination is never afforded enough space to really shine.I tolerated this, however, and had a good time discovering the game’s many weird and wonderful creatures. Before I even started, I felt at peace with the knowledge that it would probably never reach the heights of Yoshi’s Island on the SNES (honestly, what can?), and so I enjoyed it for what it was.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Random: Don't Be Fooled By Google Play Store's Tomodachi Life Clones

Like looking in a Miirror.Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream sales have got off to a strong start in its first month on the market, so it was only a matter of time before knock-offs started cropping up.We're used to seeing all manner of clones on the eShop and other digital storefronts, with their ripped assets usually hidden behind a thinly-veiled key art tweak and title change; what we don't often come across is something as shameless as the Google Play Store's current offerings.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Last week, Bungie made a half surprising, half the writing was on the wall decision to end active development on Destiny 2. The long running live service shooter's final update has been set for June, with responses to the news generally oscillating between genuine upset and baffled disappointment. Worse still, a report suggested that the studio is facing "significant" layoffs as a result of this choice. Except the choice didn't come last week, but earlier in the year, a choice that another report now claims that many at Bungie weren't privy to until it was made public. Read more
