"An outright ban will not eliminate AI from the modding process," Nexus Mods say as they rule out barring generated creations from their site
The owners of Nexus Mods have ruled out instituting an outright ban on AI-generated works being uploaded the site, instead opting to expand their current rules on modders disclosing how they've used AI in making their mods. This latest move to address the waves of AI-created or AI-thumbnailed mods now hitting Nexus Mods on a daily basis follows Nexus' modus operandi up to this point, which has been simply to try and ensure AI usage is clearly labelled so prospective downloaders can make informed decisions. Crazy Taxi Meets GTA In 'Downtown Dash', A New Arcade-Style Racing Game For Your Atari Jaguar
Made the "traditional way". A new 3D racing game has just launched for the Atari Jaguar, combining the open-world chaos and classic camera angles of Grand Theft Auto with the frantic, timer-based mayhem of Crazy Taxi . Downtown Dash was developed in six months for the JagJam 2026 event and is proudly made "100% without AI" (a refreshing change of pace, considering the state of our news tips over recent months). It is the work of Dr Ludos and was described to us as being developed the "traditional way", with the creator relying on advice, tools, and assets from various members of the Atari Jaguar & retro homebrew communities in order to bring the project to life (as opposed to simply turning to generative AI). Ubisoft are reportedly tapped as one potential company that could acquire Arkane, though the Dishonored studio's own management may be in the running too
Things are potentially looking up for Arkane, depending on how you feel about Ubisoft (and depending on who actually ends up acquiring them). I mention the Assassin's Creed developer because, reportedly, they're interested in buying the studio from Microsoft, having even made a bid for it.
