Inside Buckshot Roulette developer Mike Klubnika's terrifically nasty horror universe of post-Soviet malaise

In Mike Klubnika's growing oeuvre of brilliantly deplorable games, the same elements tend to recur. First, smoking: deep, long drags to make the lungs burn and eyes water. Second, club music: hard and fast, accented with just a faint sense of melancholy. Third, guns: big and loud, usually aimed at you from point-blank range, ready to blow your brains out. Read more

Minecraft Has Been Updated To Ver. 26.60 On Switch 2, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

New experimental biomes! Blocks! Projectiles! Minecraft launched on Switch 2 earlier this week, and Mojang was quick to release a new update to make sure that everything is running as it should. As ever, there's a huge list of fixes included in the ver. 26.60 update too, including a couple of Switch 2-specific tweaks — hello, improved split screen performance! "Creation without a creator": Pathologic 3's devs have refused to patch an invisible apple tree, and for a blissful moment, I thought they were lying to poison Google's AI

Magnificent, depressing plague colony fable Pathologic 3 has received a sizeable game update that adds some new difficulty modes, a photo feature, and some new, worryingly folkloric methods of defeating a murky embodiment of disease. Developers Ice Pick Lodge have also staunchly refused to remove an invisible apple tree, describing this apparently "famous" bug as a hallmark of a game whose "symbolic nature has almost overtaken its function as a product". This appears to be the last major update for Pathologic 3, so that invisible apple tree is staying in the game forever. I confess, when I first read the Steam blog in question, I doubted. The thing about invisible apple trees is that they are quite easy to confuse with apple trees that are simply not there. Pathologic in general is a house of lies: as Quintin Smith (RPS in peace) put it in his legendary Butchering Pathologic trilogy , "absolutely everybody has an angle, everyone's bending the truth and trying to twist you round their fingers." Pathologic 3 especially is a purgatorial time travel story that must be continually rewritten, a crock of festering rumours enclosed by an enormous, phantom theatre. As such, I read Ice-Pick's typically professorial account of the "invisible apple tree" with intense suspicion. Read more

Leaked Mass Effect 5 trailer is being "re-scored" by one of the original trilogy's composers, so folks can get a taste of his musical vision for the game

One of the composers who contributed to the scores of the original Mass Effect trilogy has decided to re-soundtrack the Mass Effect Universe trailer which leaked following the game's cancellation and BioWare's closure . Sam Hulick's aim, aside from making this year's N7 Day a tiny bit less depressing if he can deliver as planned, is to share some of his "musical vision" for the RPG. Read more

Nintendo Apparently Has A Policy To Prevent Game-Key Cards Getting A Full-Cart Reprint

According to a Canadian retailer, that is. After Nintendo seemingly introduced smaller cartridge size options earlier this year, many of us wondered whether our favourite Game-Key Card releases might get a proper full-cart physical reprint down the line. Well, according to Canadian retailer Video Games Plus, that might not be possible (thanks for the heads-up, Nintendo Wire ). In a now-deleted post on social media, VGP said the following: "As we’ve stated many times, we’d actively try to get existing Game-Key Card titles reprinted as full-on-cart versions, but at the moment, there’s a Nintendo policy preventing that.” Hmm . Anbernic Boldly Highlights PS4 Emulation in New RG DDS Demo Showcase

Pre-orders still open for powerful new handheld. Developer Anbernic released a new demonstration video highlighting its newest handheld hardware, the RG DDS ("Dual Dream Screen"). The portable emulation console opened pre-orders last week , ahead of a currently planned shipping date of December 10. Continuing its bold/foolhardy (*delete as applicable) reputation of spitting in the face of fear, Anbernic's showcase highlights not only the RG DDS' Nintendo 3DS emulation (minus the 3D, of course) but also boldly demonstrates its PS4 emulation capabilities, comically choosing, of all titles, Activision's 2015 release Transformers: Devastation as its KILLER APP. Part idle game, part automation game, Moon Sweepers exploits the sickness in me that adores both Satisfactory and Cookie Clicker

When Edwin talked about Moon Sweepers yesterday he focused on the artisanal approach to space rock cleaning. Like the puritan he is, he wants to wipe away all the dust on the moon using a toothbrush. He says you should take pride in your work, stick one spacesuit-clad middle finger up to the machines and say 'Fuck off, robots. Let me show you my art!" as you get down on all fours and brush away moon dust. I've taken a different approach. Read more
