"Relive The Glory Days Of Console Gaming" - New 4:3 Monitor Takes Aim At Retro Players

"A modern way to bring back the feeling". The screen you use to play retro games on is a vital part of the experience, and while old-school CRT displays are the most faithful way of reconnecting with the past, there are many video scalers and processing devices which allow you to get a similar experience on modern-day TVs. Unico's TRAVELLER•ULW10 aims to strike a middle ground between those two options. It's a modern LCD monitor with a "retro-inspired" 4:3 aspect ratio design and a raft of legacy connections, including RGB and VGA (thanks, Retro Dodo ). HDMI is included for modern systems, too. Paradox's Afterworld feels like the first grand strategy game I can properly wrap my head around

I've got a bit of a funny relationship with Paradox's grand strategy games. I love the idea of them, of waging and flirting my way across history on the most granular of levels. But despite my enthusiasm, and despite my best efforts, I've never probably cracked one: it doesn't take long before I'm feeling thoroughly overwhelmed and my attention quickly begins to wane. I bring this up, because my relatively brief hands-on time with Paradox's new post-apocalyptic grand strategy game Afterworld suggests - thanks to some smart design decisions - it might finally be the one for me. Charging Current Owners For The Witcher III Remastered "Never A Question We Asked Ourselves", Says CDPR

Goodwill Geralt. One of the biggest surprises from this year's Gamescom ONL showcase was the announcement of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Remastered for the Switch 2; a reveal made all the more sweet thanks to the confirmation that it would be free for current owners. In speaking with The Game Business , CD Projekt Red CEO Michał Nowakowski stated that charging current owners for the remastered version simply never entered the developers' minds. In his mind, the studio will be fulfilling its commercial goals with the release of the upcoming expansion, Songs of the Past from developer Fool's Theory, in 2027. The remaster, meanwhile, is viewed more as a gift for current fans. Read the full article on nintendolife.com

How Kingdom Hearts Almost Paved The Way For A Smash Bros-Like Fighter From Disney & Activision

"We all thought it was the greatest idea in the world". Back in 2013, publications like Siliconera and Nintendo Life both published articles about a number of Disney projects that never came to life. The inspiration for these articles was a series of images posted to the former Disney Interactive concept artist Ken Christiansen's portfolio website , which documented some of the ideas that were being worked on behind closed doors. This included, among other things, a pitch for a Smash Bros -esque fighting game featuring various action figures of Disney characters facing off in battle.
