Inspired by mistaking the branded satellites for stars, the title comes with the complicated associations of genuinely useful infrastructure whose use enriches a horrible man. But this friction suits her solo project well. Throughout Starlink, Nissen works to balance conflicts between harsh and soft tones, defiant and optimistic themes, and organic and manufactured sources.
