Jlin to Release New LP with Chicago Collective Third Coast Percussion
Vernacular is set for release in October Jlin has collaborated with the Chicago-based ensemble Third Coast Percussion on a new album, Vernacular. The new record marks the first release of joint material by the two acts, and meshes Jlin's experimental footwork sound with the percussion of the Chicago group. It's set to feature original compositions by Jlin and Sonnen Zimmer, in addition to interpretations of Philip Glass' Mishima and David Longstreth's Butterfly Dancing Over a Barrel. The collaboration comes after Third Coast Percussion covered a number of Jlin's songs, including 'Derivative' and 'Soulfood', in recent years. The two acts will debut Vernacular in a live setting at Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art on 15 October. A tour of Europe will follow, including a show... The artist's publicist confirmed that a small, private memorial service will be held for immediate family Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80. Parton's nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced the legendary country musician's passing in a video shared on social media. "Dolly opened the door for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians, and dreamers from every walk of life and across every continent," he said. "From her example, we believed that anything was possible." Though a cause of death was not initially revealed, Parton's team later said in a statement: "After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today (25 August) at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones."
