Indecently cool FPS platformer Cicadamata" is out now - please get yourself down that rabbit hole
I've already humiliated myself attempting to describe the sensory enormity that is Cicadamata", the new movement shooter from flowergarden with the tricksy title punctuation, so instead of writing additional sentences such as "this game is like drinking the aurora borealis" (OK, one more) or "this game is like surfing the Niagara Falls during a freak shower of potassium pellets" (enough!), I'm just going to transcribe the latest trailer. Cultic: Chapter Two
Cultic Chapter One was an already extremely impressive game. Telling the story of a detective who runs afoul of a mysterious cult, it was a step-by-step journey through a mountainous region that featured rather excellent level design, a killer soundtrack, and first person shooter gameplay that found its own chaotic, distinct rhythm of combat. There ... Cultic: Chapter Two was first posted on August 21, 2026 at 12:32 pm. ©2017-2025 " Hardcore Gaming 101 ". Use of this feed is for personal non-commercial use only. Cultic
Boomer shooter Cultic comes from solo developer Jason Smith under the Jasozz Games. It’s a fascinating title that pays homage to various older games, but remixes its various elements into something that feels perfectly at home to the eras it pays tribute to. The game’s first half, Chapter One, tells the story of an unnamed ... Cultic was first posted on August 21, 2026 at 12:24 pm. ©2017-2025 " Hardcore Gaming 101 ". Sandustry is the first factory simulation game I've played that gets heaps right
Before we talk about Sandustry , the excellent new spelunking factory builder from Lantto Games and Hooded Horse, we need to revisit that most quintessentially vidyagame of topics, the post-industrial countryside of Wales. Early on in my recent 105-mile "review" of the MSI Cyborg 14 laptop , I walked through the old slate quarries near the village of Aberllefenni – the longest continually operated slate mining setup in the world until its closure in 2003. The Making Of: Starflight - "Don't Let Me Die Until This Game Is Out" - An Oral History Of The Trailblazing Space Sandbox Sim
"I borrowed $5,000 from a friend so I could survive". Open the original Starflight PC packaging, and you will find a large photograph of the development team: Greg Johnson, Alec Kercso, Bob Gonsalves, Tim Lee, and Rod McConnell, dressed as a space crew in the cockpit of a Boeing 747 at San Francisco International Airport. It is a fitting portrait of a game that could only have been made together. The roles in this story were clearly defined, even if their boundaries often blurred in daily work: Rod McConnell founded the development studio Binary Systems (originally Ambient Designs) and, as project leader, maintained contact with Electronic Arts; programmers Alec Kercso and Bob Gonsalves turned the technical ideas into a playable game; Greg Johnson shaped its world, characters, and story; and Tim Lee created the core software architecture.
