BrickLink Designer Program Series 11 Finalists Revealed
At Brickworld Chicago, BrickLink has revealed the five finalists for BrickLink Designer Program Series 11. BrickLink will now refine the final designs with the designers and that will run until May 3, 2027. Pricing and piece count details won’t happen until May of next year and crowdfunding for this series will start in June 2027. LEGO Inside Tour Vintage LEGO Logo (4000049) Exclusive Revealed
Fans that were able to go to the LEGO Inside Tour this year can now talk about the exclusive set for 2026, the Vintage LEGO Logo (4000049). The 1,614 pieces set features a brick-built logo from 1946 that is drum lacquered gold on a display stand. There’s also a drawer that opens up to reveal printed LEGO logo tiles from 1936, 1953, 1965, and 1973 as well as corresponding microbuilds of various sets from those years such as the wooden LEGO car, the LEGO man, a LEGO train, and the tugboat from set 310-3. As with many of these extremely exclusive sets, they go for very high prices on the secondary market and this particular one is currently going for about $10k as of this writing. For most, this is mainly to recoup the cost of the trip to Billund and pocketing the rest. This year's Inside Tour set revealed
Jay's Brick Blog has revealed that the set given to attendees of this year's LEGO Inside Tours in Billund is 4000049 Vintage LEGO Logo. The 1,614-piece set builds a 3D version of the logo used by the LEGO company in 1946 that, in addition to a plethora of drum lacquered gold pieces that make up the letters, also includes some surprises in a 'secret' drawer housed in the base. It looks to be one of the better Inside Tour sets, so is likely to command a hefty price on the secondary market, especially as so few are made and most participants do not part with them. Those that do can recoup most of the cost of the tour. Review: 72537 Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird
KPop Demon Hunters' incredible popularity was totally unexpected when the animation debuted last year, so very little merchandise was available on release. The reaction has been fast, as 72537 Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird will be released less than a year after the movie. The short development time has not diminished these characters' designs though, as both creatures are expressive and Derpy in particular is very detailed. Review: 42702 Spinning Flower and Fairy Teacup Ride
The amusement park subtheme got off to a fine start with 42703 Mermaid Roller Coaster Ride. The Friends team is working their way around the park by adding a teacup ride! I'm happy to see this as those rides were my favourite when I was a child. 42702 Spinning Flower and Fairy Teacup Ride provides the classic attraction with a bit of a twist. As the name implies, the "teacups" are actually flower blooms, under a towering flower. On first look, the "fairy" part isn't obvious to me, but I'm sure that will be self-evident soon enough.
