Brussels Festival MIRROR WORLD Confirms First Acts Playing Inaugural Edition
The new event, scheduled for next month, is affiliated with Nyege Nyege Festival Kampire Brussels festival MIRROR WORLD has shared the first wave of names playing its inaugural edition next month. The new two-day festival is a sister event to Uganda's Nyege Nyege Festival, and will welcome a number of figures connected to the Nyege Nyege Tapes label as a result. Among them are Kampire, DJ Travella, Serokolo 7, De Schuurman, Arsenal Mikebe, Jay Mitta, HHY & The Kampala Unit (playing alongside a Brussels-based brass ensemble), and Authentically Plastic. Among the other acts listed to play are Mohammad Syfkhan, D'Leesa, Top Klas and Congolese guitar veteran Dizzy Mandjeku. In addition to the music programming, MIRROR WORLD will presents exhibitions and screenings, including a photography display... Mappa Releases Ambient Music Compilation Themed Around Water
Synthetic Water Music features tracks by Pauline Anna Strom, Visible Cloaks, perila and more Slovakian label mappa has released a 51-track compilation of ambient music themed around water, titled Synthetic Water Music. Available now digitally, with a cassette release set to follow on 10 September, it follows on from the imprint's 2023 compilation Synthetic Bird Music as the label marks its 10th anniversary. Much of the music on the release is new or previously unreleased, and is made by friends or close associates of the imprint, with a particular focus on musicians from Central and Eastern Europe. The campaign claims that the Rosebank oilfield could produce as much climate pollution as almost 70 percent of the UK’s annual emissions Brian Eno Brian Eno and Massive Attack are among more than 200 musicians who've signed an open letter opposing the Rosebank oilfield in the North Sea. The letter has been published by EarthPercent, an environmental pressure group co-founded by Eno, and it calls on the new Labour Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, to halt the development of the oilfield. The opposition follows previous pressure put on the last Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, last year when proposals for the oilfield were initially being considered. The letter reads: "We care about climate change, not just as musicians and artists, but as people of the UK...
